As I continue to grow in my leadership of self and others, I have been inspired by authentic, kind, solution-focused leaders who dare to do things differently, no matter the cost. When new opportunities are on the horizon, we can very quickly become jaded when we recognise that the grass is not as green, and that the rose-tinted glasses we may have been looking through is not reality. Perhaps, we have been fearful of what may come next. Often, we can find ourselves totally consumed by our circumstances, be that with work, leadership or personal life. What we need is fresh perspective.

How often do we become accustomed to mundane routines like scheduled meetings, disregarding the relevance of such gatherings and their impact? Do we get bogged down with the weight of responsibility that restricts our movement, leading us to a place of reduced productivity?

Fresh perspective is needed.

Queen Esther was someone who held a position of prestige, who underwent several routines and preparations before she was presented to the King. Perhaps, the grass was greener and the view a little rosier in her context! At a time where her people were being persecuted, Queen Esther receives wise counsel from her cousin, Mordecai, when alerted of the harm coming to her people. She was perfectly positioned to stand in the gap, doing so boldly, even if it meant that it would cost her life. Also, Mordecai was well positioned to speak into her life as a family member and guardian. Rather than backing down, he partnered with truth, bringing Kingdom perspective into the situation.

“Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Esther‬ ‭4‬:‭‭14‬ ‭NIV‬

Queen Esther rose to the challenge, using her voice even when it felt difficult, knowing that the glory to come far outweighed present, momentary discomfort. Mordecai’s words of wisdom were just what was needed to enable her to rise to the occasion, stepping out of comfortability.

When fresh perspective comes, the penny drops.
When fresh perspective comes, vision and revelation comes.
When fresh perspective comes, new things begin to emerge.

Now, to bring this back to everyday life…

What if meetings were viewed as ‘discernment spaces,’ places to weigh up truth regarding matters? As iron sharpens iron, what if this points us in the right direction, enabling us to be at our best in our leadership? What if details become the very framework that enables effective and sustainable planning?

What might you need to put in place in order to receive a heavenly perspective? Do you need some time away from the noise in order to hear Him better? Like a radio, what is required for you to tune into the frequency of heaven today?

It is so great to know that we have a heavenly Father who cares for and loves us, ready to receive every word we have to say at any opportunity. He is ready to speak to us. Imagine what it could look like to receive fresh perspective from Him to speak into dire, dry and broken situations. Life will spring forth and new things will begin to grow.

As Kingdom ambassadors, each day we have the opportunity to enter our spaces of influence knowing that as we do so, we stand in the gap not only for ourselves, but those we work with and the generations to come. Fresh perspective can renew things now and bring glorious hope for the future.
